He was born on 18 September 1950. He is known for his work in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi movies. He was a prominent Indian actor. He had worked in more than 200 movies. He started his career with the award winning movie Vamshavruksha (1972) directed by Girish Karnad. He started an organization called Sneha Loka to promote harmony and to help people during natural calamities. He was associated with many charitable causes. He participated in a Cancer Awareness Walkathon organized by Bangalore Institute of Oncology (BIO). He died due to cardiac arrest at King's Court Hotel in Mysore. He completed his schooling from Mysore's Gopalswamy School and from Bangalore's Kannada Model High School. He had obtained a bachelor's degree from National College from Bangalore.
