She was born in 1930 and she died on 21 January 1965. She was a famous film actress from Bollywood. She was born in Punjab in Sargodha as Harkiran Kaur. The entire family got shifted to Mumbai because of the financial crises. She started her career at the age of 12. She did her first movie ’The Cobbler’. She made her bollywood debut with the film ’Badnaam’. She has worked in many well known personalities like: Raj Kapoor in Bawre Nain and with her future father-in-law Prithviraj Kapoor in Anand Math. Her last movie was ‘ Jab Se Tumko Dekha Hai’ in 1963. Her father was Kartar Singh who was a known Philosopher. He was blind. She got married to Shammi Kapoor. She got married on 23 August 1955. They had two children: Aditya and Kanchan. She died because she had small pox and that created problems. She acted in the movies like: Bawre Nain (1950) with future brother-in-law Raj Kapoor, Baazi (1951) with Dev Anand, Ghayal (1951) with Sheikh Mukhtar, Albela (1951) with Bhagwan Dada, Jaal (1952) with Dev Anand, Baaz (1953) with Guru Dutt and Mr. India (1961).
