Shabd is a 2005 Indian Bollywood drama, romance film released on Apr 02, 2005. The film is directed by Leena Yadav, produced by Pritish Nandy , music composed by Vishal-Shekhar.

Shoukat Vashist (Sanjay Dutt) is a successful novel writer & the winner of the Booker Prize. He is married to Antara Vashist (Aishwarya Rai). Everyone alleges that he writes only about unreal things & that he is quite inexperienced. This hurts him. Shaukat decides to write a real story with his wife Antara playing a lead role. In his story, Antara, a professor in a college, happens to meet a photography lecturer, Yash (zayed khan) in college. Shaukat compels Antara to be friends with Yash and makes her do what he writes in his novel story. Yash falls in love with Antara. At this point Antara rebels and rejects Yash. She starts going against the way shaukat wants her to behave. When the end does not work out as Shoukat wants it to,he goes mad and forgets the difference between reality and fiction. He is ultimately sent to a sanitorium where he still lingers between truth and illusion.
