Story


Maa O Chhele is a 1954 Indian Bengali drama,family,romance film released on 1954. The film is directed by Gunamoy Bandyopadhyay.

Sisir was the son of Mahesh Roy, zamindar of Tollygunge. He married Madhatri, daughter of a poor village man. After spending couple of months with newly wed wife, he left for hunting. Before leaving, he promised he would come back and take his wife to Calcutta. But Sisir did not return. Madhatri became pregnant. Madhatri’s father Harihom went with Madhatri to Sisir’s house. Sisir’s rich father was very rude. He informed Harihom that Sisir was already married. He insulted them and forced them to leave. Sisir’s first wife Ramadar also remained, dejected all day due to Sisir’s negilegence. Madhatri one day left her home. In Calcutta Manohar chakraborty, an old drunkard, gave her shelter. Once Manohar had a daughter, her name also was Madhatri. Manohar took Madhatri with him to Sisir. But Sisir insulted them saying Madhatri all unchaste woman? him ashoka? . Manohar wanted him to make ? a judge. But when Ashoka s five years old, Manohar died. Madhatri took a job of cook. Ashoka was a brilliant student. Every year he stood first in scholor examination. One day he passed B.A. He stood first in the examination. While studying B.A Ashoke used to give tuition to Anjali, daughter of barrister Sreesh Mukherjee. Anjali loved Ashoka. Anjali’s mother knew this. Ashoke wanted to study ICS in K. Sreesh Mukharjee approved this idea. He promised to pay fo the study. But Anjali’s uncle disclosed the fact that Ashoka had no identity of his father. Ashoka was thrown out of Anjali’s house by her father. Hearing his father’s identity Ashoka went to Sisir. But Sisir did not recognise Ashoka as his son. Then Ashoka left home. He left a letter for his mother stating that he would only return when he would be able to take care of his mother. Ashoka got a job of private tutor of Jharna, daughter of forest officer Sasadhar Mukharjee. Jharna fell in love with Ashoka. But Ashoka had decided not to marry before passing ICS from UK. Jharna’s father agreed to pay for the study. But this time Sisir Roy came and disclosed the identity of Ashoka to Sasadhar Mukharjee but at that time appeared Anjali in the scene. He offered all her ornaments to Sasadhar Mukherjee for the payment of Aashoka's study abroad. Sasadhar could not resist Anjali’s request. Ashoka started for England. When Ashoka finishing his studies, came back from England sisir roy ?. Had already become ? proposed madhatri?, his mother was not found. Accidently Sisir Roy came for a trial for a crime and the judge of the trial was Ashoka. But Ashoke was in search of his mother Madhatri and his true love-Anjali and Jharna.
