Lalten is a 1956 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1956. The film is directed by Harish, music composed by Hemanta Mukherjee.
Johny a charming youth, nicknamed "LATEN" because he carried a lantern like MARYS LAMB earnet his living by selling Sugar Toys, A favourite of all, he was the only perant who could hold his own when faced with Kumar, the uncrowned king among the mavaiees of the locality. A provocative remark, a blow, and a splash of water, and down went Kumar in his first encounter with Johnny. But as is usual with such encounters the two became loving his soon after. . Seth Dhanrajmal (multi-millionaries) was for years conducting and extensive search for his long-lost daughat Kiran, and Kumar (son of his late friend and apartner Banwarilal) as no fruitful result. The two childern were betrothed in their childwhot but lost in stampede during the Kumbh Mela. The lost childern identicla gold lockers which if found could trace them. But also there was no trace even of the Lockets. . Deepak, a murdererm fugitive from justice, a wold in sheeps clothing, found one of the two lockers, and easily planted himself in to the lost Kumars place in the wealth and acres of Seth Dhanrajmal. In the next round of fate, Kiran was also found and Seth Dhanrajmals happiness would have been complete if only Kiran had not hated (Deepak) the wrongful Kumar. She had other iden she was the loved one of a certain mavalee, iranically enough, also know as Kumar. She was paining for the day when her Kumar would an out of the Jail. He was sentenced ot six months hard-labour canged with gambling and caught red-handed. Kiran hated him for thir and yet could not quite forget him. She loved him. . In Jail Kumar met one Mr. Prashad a strange character and near reative of Seth Dhanrajmal. It was soon established that Kumar could disguise himself into a perfect impersonsion of Mr. Prashad. . This impersonation eventually proven to be a blessing. when Kumar came out of the Jail, and found his Johny (Kiran) now planted in her neck in danger at the hands of Deepak resquerading as Kumar. But to all his (Deepaks) crimes there was a lineclue. Ko-ko a strange girl-betrayed and therefore evengeful. . Currents and cross currents thus has nounting and resulted in a thrilling tale with Kiran and Kumar as lovers with a destiny, Deepak as the proverbial thorn of all eyes, M.Prashad who had all the answere and last but not the least Johrsn the mysterious lad with the "LALTEN" Check out this page for more updates on Lalten.
