Hello again, Tony Stark. Two years after he stormed into cinemas, the weapons magnate-turned- superhero tests his firepower again in this follow-up to the comic-book blockbuster. Displaying snazzy visual flair and crammed with slam-bang set pieces, Iron Man 2 is popcorn-ready summer entertainment. Director Favreau, who also helmed the original, once again gives free rein to his fertile imagination. This time around, the dual identityRead full review4.0

He isn't everybody's cup of tea, this Tony Stark. Heck, even fellow superheroes he teams up with are more often beleaguered than besotted by his overdone charm, a boozy womaniser given to far, far more flash than, well, Flash. He's petulant, spoilt, arrogant to the point of being obnoxious, armed with an overcompensatory need for women, and has, on one particular occasion, gotten so drunk that his Iron Man suit was taken over and used for murder. True story.Read full review3.5

If Iron Man was introspective, interspersed with high octane action sequences, then Iron Man 2 is completely over the top and no apologies for that. And that's what makes it such great fun. Tony Stark, the eponymous hero, isn't the only person on the edge in this two-hour dhoom-dhadaka. You too seem to be sliding dangerously close to the periphery as you try and keep pace with the mad melee exploding in your face. Oh yes, we know it's totally wildRead full review3.0

In Robert Downey Jr the makers of the "Iron Man" movies have indeed found a superhero that can fix every seemingly impossible problem - including the cluttered and unnecessarily over-convoluted script of "Iron Man 2". The actor returns as billionaire industrialist and egotist-beyond-compare Tony Stark, who refuses to hand over the secrets behind his super-weapons and his shiny red suit to the US government, declaring pompously insteadRead full review3.0

Of all the megabudget effects franchises, the slick, well-oiled Iron Man might be the hardest to get a purchase on. He’s guaranteed to make a fortune, but this hero in a metal suit doesn’t have the emotional accessibility of Spider-Man, Batman’s growling rage, or even the lunkheaded sensibility of a Transformer. It doesn’t help that there’s a near-complete visual disconnect between our flying tin man and Robert Downey Jr, who plays billionaireRead full review3.0

Jon Favreau’s attempt to take the Iron Man series to a new high with this eagerly awaited sequel comes a cropper. This one is not distinctive enough. The metal clanging is just a bit too overpowering and the action doesn’t appear to have achieved any new high. The world is now aware that Iron Man is none other than Tony Stark (Downey, Jr) and everyone wants to know the secrets of his iron-clad success. From the rival Hammer IndustriesRead full review3.0

When Iron Man came out two years ago, everyone raised eyebrows. Robert Downey Jr didn't have a Sherlock Holmes on his resume yet, and Gwyneth Paltrow was remembered as Chris Martin's wife. But the film resurrected both their fates. Now Iron Man 2 tries to keep that reputation alive and gives it a hard edge with Mickey Rourke as the baddie Whiplash. This time, Iron Man has to battle more than just the bad guys. He's struggling to copeRead full review3.0

Watching Iron Man 2 is a little like spending the day in an over-crowded amusement park. It’s noisy, busy, over-stimulating and tiring but the intermittent flashes of excitement and entertainment keep you going. These flashes are provided by Robert Downey Junior, who once again plays Tony Stark, the somewhat unhinged, narcissistic, iron suited superhero and by Mickey Rourke, as Whiplash, the disgruntled and deadly Russian physicistRead full review3.0

Iron Man 2 has pretty much the same technological razzmatazz that we had seen in the original. There is plenty of adrenaline thumping action, state of the art fight sequences and a whole of machine monstrosity in this franchise. Besides, the film is also replete with humour, sarcasm and spunky one-liners. Tony Stark looks really pleased with his super hero stature as he plays savior to the world. His own revelation that he is Iron Man has also now addedRead full review
