Alok mukherjee is in deada ? mental asylum. He suffers from amnesia due to the injuries he had from a train accident. He fails to remember anything about himself. Dr Majumdar tries aggressive methods to rouse his memory which only makes Alok’s condition worse. A well-meant interference from Roma, a junior psychiatrist arouses Dr Majumdar’s wrath. When asked to apologize to him, Roma resigns. Meanwhile, a siren declares the flight of a mentally retarded patient. Roma comes home to find Alok asleep there. Instead of giving him up to the police, she leaves for her home in Palashpur with him. Although Alok’s memory doesn’t come back, Roma’s relentless care brings Alok close to her. The forgetful Alok depends on her for everything. Soon, the couple marry. One day while Roma is away to see a patient, Alok goes out and is hit by a car. His earlier memory comes back while Roma and Palashpur fades out from his mind. Alok goes back to his home in Calcutta and takes up his business. But he always remains preoccupied with the thoughts of what had happened between the time of his train accident and his inding himself in Palashpur. A shattered but determined Roma comes to Calcutta and takes up a job as Alok’s niece Mmala’s governess. There she meets Lata, Alok’s fiance who loses no time to give rent to her hostility. Roma and her sub ? he efforts stirs Alok’s memory as he worriedly tries to trace back time. Roma saves Mala with a life saving injection when she’s ill. Alok develops a warmth for her Roma, tells her that her husband has forgotten her. Lata and her brother influences Alok’s mother against Roma. She asks Roma to leave. After a sleepless night, Alok gets the information about Roma’s departure from his manager. Her address Palashpur, rings a bell and he remembers everything as he reaches there. Roma and Alok are united again.
