Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne is a 1969 Indian Bengali fantasy,musical,children film released on May 08, 1969. The film is directed by Satyajit Ray, produced by Nepal Dutta under banner named Purnima Pictures, music composed by Satyajit Ray.

Gupi Gayen is a failure of a singer thrown out of his village Amlaki and Bagha Bayen is similarly forced into exile from village Hartuki for his drumming. They meet at a forest. Their music however, pleases the King of the Ghosts residing there and he gives them three boons. The first is that they can freeze anybody with their performance. Second, they can step into two special pairs of shoes and go anywhere they want just by clapping. Using the third boon they can call up food at any time. They come to know of a musical competition at a place called Shundi and joining the competition they win it impressing the Kind of Shundi a great deal. When his brother, the kind of Halla marches to wage war on Shundi the performers take up the challenge of averting the war. They investigate and find out that the King of Halla is actually under the control of the corrupt Prime Minister who uses a magician, Borphi to hypnotise the King. They use their boons to stop the war and also kidnap the King of Halla. The spell is broken and the brothers unite. Shundy’s princess is married to Gupi and the princess of Halla is married to Bagha Bayen.
