More importantly, the plot has been finely crafted, with every twist and turn falling into place like a complicated albeit neat little jigsaw. With a canvas that goes on a cross-country ride -- Thailand, Malaysia, Zurich, Berlin -- the film challenges you to hop aboard its high speed scuttle and attentively follow the exploits of its glamorous gangster. All in all Don 2 is a smashing finale to an already interesting line up of films released this year. It’s a slickly edited, edge of the seat, cool, sassy and well made product with a gripping plot to boot. Here’s hoping they decide to make a third installment as there’s definitely potential to explore more of Don’s wicked antics, watch him outwit the good guys again and recite his by now (in)famous line ‘Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi…’

Remaking the Amitabh Bachchan classic DON was a risk in itself. Don 2 ends with the promise of Don 3 (that’s what the number-plate of Don’s bike reads) and the trademark dialogue ‘Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkim hai’ (It’s not just difficult to catch don, it’s impossible). But we would surely want to ‘catch’ up with a more worthy sequel to this. It’s not impossible Farhan. Is it?

In his new film Don 2 director Farhan Akhtar takes his time introducing us to his lead, played by Shahrukh Khan. We get a whiff of Khan, a slight sense of his presence, with close shots and shaky hand held camera. There we see his arm, part of his unshaven face, his dark glasses. As he travels up a meandering river in Thailand, we notice Khan's rather odd looking long hair (a wig, of course), with dreadlocks. And there is cigarette smoke rolling around his face

By the time it dawns on you that a 6-feet contemporary Bollywood actor (in a cameo) has been passed off as the unabridged undercover for Shah Rukh Khan's Don in the film, you are expected to be equipped for many more of such cinematic liberties. And rather than crying a spoiler there, you could rather preset your logic mode to the multiple masquerades in store in the movie. Farhan Akhtar has to his credit some of the most seminal moments in Hindi films. It's time for the SRK fans to go weak in the knees again. The superstar's back. And those of you who went away after RA.One, come back, it's the season to forgive and forget. Shah Rukh Khan manages to look super cool and super hot as he easily reclaims his King Khan position with that stylish swagger, that cocky married-to-mischief grin and his trademark arms thrown wide open gesture. There's an easy way to describe Don2 without any spoilers. Think of great action flicks from the Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and MI4 series. Shake them up. Replace Nakatomi Plaza with Berlin's leading bank and there it is - Don 2 - a Bollywood take on great action flicks where Shah Rukh wants to show that being a bad-ass is fun. Post the RA.One disaster, a lot of hopes ride upon SRK to prove he is a bankable box office star and Don 2 works hard to re-establish the fact that SRK can scale walls

Khan’s charming presence aside, Don 2 is packed with uninspired performances by a large supporting cast. First in the line-up is Chopra as Roma, an Interpol officer located in Kuala Lumpur. She is attractive looking, with her big pouting lips, but most of the time Chopra acts like a school girl putting her hands on her forehead in exasperation saying “Damn it,” or a character out of an Enid Blyton book, collecting clues to solve the Mystery of the Missing Don!

‘Don 2′ needed an energized, crackling plot. What it has, in almost too much abundance, is SRK dripping dimpled coolth. But cool can only take you so far.

In his interviews leading up to the release of Don 2, director Farhan Akhtar has repeatedly said that viewers seeking anything other than pure thrills and entertainment from this film are likely to be disappointed. Going in with strictly those expectations, I'm sorry to report I still came away feeling cheated. For the film's plot - which basically involves our flamboyant criminal protagonist (Shah Rukh Khan) assembling a team to pull off a seemingly impossible heist in Berlin

Farhan Akhtar has taken credit for the dialogues, direction and story of DON 2. This, apart from being in the production team. Farhan, as we all know, has set very high standards in Bollywood. So DON 2, which has no story, dialogues which are 'college class' and no direction comes as a surprise.
